This collection includes records that contain terminology, language or images which are outdated, offensive, or upsetting. While this does not align with RBGKs views and values today, the content is representative of the time and context in which the records were created, and our team are reviewing our collections and policies to determine how these records can be appropriately described, showcased, and discussed to ensure they are placed within this context and are accessible to everyone.

The collection contains a large amount of correspondence (1885-1911), most of which was sent to Isaac Bayley Balfour in his role as a member of the Annals of Botany Committee, as well as minutes of the committee meetings (1886-1931). Also included are financial accounts for the period 1888-1919 which concern the production of the ANNALS OF BOTANY journal and copies of articles from the journal which relate the early history of the title.
