Title (The name of the record)
- Letter from John Hammond, Nonsuch, to Sir George More, Loseley. He apologises for not having been present at the Assizes. The Prince has come to Nonsuch for the summer, attended by the Lord Admiral, and Hammond presses More to visit around St James's day to 'do your duty'. The King and Queen are at Windsor and intend to go on to Arfield and then Theobalds after which the Constable of Castile and the imperial ambassador are expected at Whitehall to ratify and confirm the peace for 5 to 7 years. He is concerned to hear of More's headaches and suggests beer with 'cardinus benedictus' and mace, followed by a three hour walk or ride. More should give himself up 'to pleasure', not business and at night drink broth made from lettuce and violet leaves. Mr Newton will speak to the King to see if the man known to More can be helped.
