Administrative / biographical background

These deeds relate to the Little Rissington manor estate, for which see also D433 T1 and D2329. The manor was fragmented in the 17th century by the sale of individual farms to tenants, among them Thomas Cox. By the late 19th century, this property with most of the others came into the hands of George Bennett. A. McN. Streatfield-Moore, tenant of the estate for life, purchased the estate in parts between 1909 and 1918, and sold it in 1919 to Major C. A. S. Warner. For further details of the descent of the manor see Victoria County History Vol. 6, pp. 108-9.
