These deeds mostly relate to land owned by the priory in Kilnwick. (The normal spelling in the original documents is 'Killingwic' which has been abbreviated to 'K.' in the catalogue, while variant spellings have been transcribed in full). In cases of undated documents, the suggested date is very approximate. Some of the seals are of particular interest for their inscriptions or armorial devices, e.g. RCHY 3/5/7, 10, 11, 16, 17, 19-23, 27, 32-35, 37, 42, 43, 50 and 51. Calendars of the deeds have also been printed by the Yorkshire Archaeological Society (see RCHY 3/5/56) and the order there is maintained here. The endorsements contain several numbering systems and this catalogue notes them in the following order: Y.A.S.; red numbers; West's numbers; others.
