1152. Dublin Steamer No. 2, Thames (SO & SP). Mar.-May, Dec. 1827. 15 items.
Two 80 horse power side lever boat engines, with 47½ inch cylinders, 4½ foot strokes.

Plan and sections showing feeding and emptying pipes - partially coloured reverse drawing made in the London office; cross-section of the boat showing feeding pipes - drawing made in the London office; balance weight - partially coloured original drawing; working gear, eccentric rod etc. - partially coloured original and partially coloured reverse drawings; longitudinal section and plan of the top of the boiler - coloured reverse drawing made in the London office; section and plan of boiler - coloured original drawing; section and plan of coal boxes - original and reverse drawings (made in the London office?); headstock; eccentric rod and side beam etc. (also used for the Shannon); plan and side view of the headstock columns and braces - coloured reverse drawings made in the London office. Some of these drawings bear letter codes.

Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 799. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 316.

For the Dublin & London Steam Marine Co. Shannon and Thames were later owned by the P & O Company. The boat is referred to in The Engineer, 1866, p. 465, and in T. Tredgold, The Steam Engine, p. 317. The drawings for Shannon and Thames were kept in the same book, No. 799.
