Description

Annual returns giving names, professions and residence of members of the Albany Lodge [Antients] and general correspondence relating to the running of the lodge. Includes receipts, clearance certificates and a petition for relief. Years 1806, 1808 and 1809 are not extant.

Administrative / biographical background

The lodge was established in 1801 to meet at the Castle and Banner, Hunny Hill, Carisbrook in Newport. In 1805 the lodge was named the Vectis Ancient Lodge, but in 1816 this name was changed to Albany, the name the lodge is now known by. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Hall in Newport.
