saying that:-
John Newdegate, Esq., sold the Manor of Harefield to Sir Edmund Anderson, knt., deceased, 28 Eliz. 36 Eliz. Sir Edmund leased to (1) a. and b. 1 messuage and lands, part of the said manor, for 21 years.
John Newdegate, Esq., was bound to Sir Edmund by 2 recognizances, dated 26th April, 1586, in £5,000 for discharging the said Sir Edmund from all rents and charges made by John Newdegate. And (1) a. is bound in great sums to Alice Dowager Countess of Derby to save the manor of Harefield harmless from any act done by John Newdegate, (2) claims that John Newdegate, upon valuable consideration, granted him a yearly rent charge of 100 marks to have when he was 21 for life.
Now claims this from said manor and lands leased to (1) a. and b., plus 10 years arrears. (1) says no consideration was given and grant was to be void of other lands or money granted by John Newdegate to (2). He did so to the value of £600 per annum.

Sir John Newdegate's Counsell retained Mr. Chamberlaine of Grays Inn, Mr. Warde of the Temple, Mr. Stapleton, Mr. Moore.
