From and to Tufton Beamish, serving with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers in Egypt and Palestine, Sep 1937 - Apr 1939 (71 items)
The earlier letters are mainly from Cairo (Abbas Hilmi Barracks, Abbassia), but latterly there were periods in Palestine (especially Tel Aviv and Sarafand). Nos 37-40 in particular include comments on the Palestinian problem, and there are some references to action, particularly the military occupation of Jaffa (Oct/Nov 1938). He comments on life locally, and on wider affairs. TB was sent home in Apr 1939 because of a recurrent dislocating shoulder [See also CLW/1/1/1(a)]
