The Hiram Lodge was established in 1795 and named in 1819. In 1795 the lodge met in the Garrison, Chatham Kent and in 1800 the lodge moved to the Hotel Barracks, Dock Road, Chatham, Kent. The lodge left Chatham in 1802 and moved to the Albany Barracks, Parkhurst, Newport, Isle of Wight, Hampshire. In 1813 the lodge met at the Star Inn, St James's Street, Newport, Isle of Wight and in 1823 the lodge finally settled at the Castle and Banner, Hunning Hill, Carisbrook, Newport. The lodge was erased in 1828. The Hiram lodge was originally formed as a travelling military lodge and from the register it appears to have remained mainly military, even after it moved from the Albany Barracks in Newport.
