Administrative / biographical background

The Royal York Lodge of Perseverance No. 7 was established in 1769 and met at the Sun Tavern, Ludgate Hill, London. In 1828 the lodge was named the Lodge of Hope. In 1829 the lodge met at the Albion, Beak Street, Regent Street, London and remained there until 1832 when the lodge united with the Royal York Lodge of Perseverance No. 409, which met at the Wood's Hotel, Furnival's Inn, Holborn. After uniting the lodge became known as the Royal York Lodge of Perseverance and met at the George and Blue Boar, Holborn. The lodge now meets at the Mark Masons' Hall, 86 St. James's Street, London.
