REGISTERS AND ACCOUNTS,

The records in this collection date from 1932 when the school provided primary education. Two years of attendance and school meals registers have been retained as examples of the records produced by the school.

<p>A further two years of attendance registers (1960-61 and 1970-71) have been deposited in the Local History Collection at Uxbridge Library.</p>

The attendance registers for the school years ending 1960, 1962, 1963, 1965-1970, 1973, 1974, school meals registers for the school years ending 1963, 1965-1971, 1973, and school meals summary registers 1960-1963, 1965-1970, have been destroyed.

Introduction

A church school was established in Cowley in about 1836, taking over a charity legacy for the education of poor children. In 1877 the school moved to new buildings in Church Road and, in 1891, to buildings in the High Street, which were enlarged in 1933-34. A new school was opened in Worcester Road in 1955. This took most of the juniors, although the High Street buildings continued in use for younger children for some time.

From about 1930 only juniors and infants were taught at the school. Older boys had gone to school in Hillingdon since 1890 and the older girls were removed from Cowley in the early 1930s.
