Administrative / biographical background

The Spilsby and District Nursing Association was formed in c1897 and the Cottage Hospital was built in 1902 as a memorial to Mrs CT Swan, of Sausthorpe Hall. It was situated in the parish of Hundleby, adjacent to Spilsby. The Hospital became part of the National Health Service in 1948, administered by the Boston Area Hospitals Management Committee of the Sheffield Regional Hospital Board. The Hospital is now closed.
