Description

Comprises the following folders, mostly compiled by 7 Field Survey Company, Royal Engineers:. 1 folder titled 'Auja Base'. Numbered '1'. Relates to baseline measurement. Dated 1918. (CN 305; Cn 301 E(3)). 1 folder titled 'Rafa Base'. Numbered '2'. Relates to baseline measurement. Dated 1917. (CN 305; Cn 301 E(3)). 8 folders (numbered 1 to 8) titled 'Palestine'. Relates to various triangulation schemes and includes observations, calculations, abstracts and diagrams. Diagrams unfold to 100 x 79cm or smaller. Some observation sheets have headers in Arabic. Dated 1915-1918. Folder 6 contained a printed copy of 'Composite Map East of Jordan (Amman). Reproduced by Survey of Egypt March 1918 (309)', scale 1:63,360 which has been transferred to Maps X.15516. (No. 07044; Cn 301 E(3)). 1 folder titled 'Palestine & Syria'. Contains lists of coordinates, lengths, azimuths and altitudes of the 'Trig. Survey of Palestine & Syria conducted during the War under the direction of the Survey of Egypt.' Also 1 other Palestine triangulation and 1 copy (bromide, white on black, wrong reading) of the Anglo-French Boundary Commission (Syria - Palestine) 1923. Dated 1919?-1937. This folder was transferred from the War Office Archive (Mat. Syria & Palestine. 10.) on 9.3.1927. (Mat. Syria & Palestine. 10; F1 A2; Cn 2; Cn 360 D; Cn 301 E(2); PAL. II).
