Indenture of bargain and sale by George Briggs of Dunstable co. Bedford, gentleman, to John Briggs, same town and county, gentleman, in consideration of £173, of those several pieces of arable land containing 16½ acres lying dispersedly in Dunstable, co. Bedford and Caddington, co. Hertford, viz. 3 acres at Hangmans Ash, the land of John Marshe, gentleman on the N. part and land of George Briggs on the S. part and abutting E. on Watlingstreete and W. on land of John Temple, gentleman, 1 acre in the same inclosure with land of George Briggs on the S. part and land of Thomas Groome on the N. part and abutting E. on a close in the occupation of Robert Grainge, 2½ acres in the same inclosure abutting E. on the same close and W. on land of the said Thomas Groome with land of ffrancis Marshe, gentleman, on the S. part, 2 acres behind a place called the ffryers shooteing W. on land of Thomas Groome and S. on land of George Briggs with land of the said Thomas Groome on the N. part, 1½ acres shooting S. on Adley Hill with land of Thomas Groome on the N. part, 2 acres lying over Laighton path with land of John Marshe, gentleman on the W. part and land of William Kitteridge on the E. part and abutting S. on Icknell way, ½ acre in the same furlong with land of William Kitteridge on the E. and W. parts and abutting S. on Icknell way, 3 acres in the middle furlong with land of Oliver Newman on the E. part and land of George Briggs on the W. part and shooting N. on land of Oliver Newman, and the other 3 roodes residue thereof lying within the parish of Caddington, co. Hertford, in a field called the Streeteffeild with the way called Woodway on the W. part and land of Nathaniell Straight on the N. part, all which premises George Briggs lately perchased of one Thomas Cheyrne, gentleman; amongst the undertakings of George Briggs is one that John Briggs is to be saved harmless of all charges and incombrances including the joynture and dower of Sarah then wife of George Briggs.
