Title page reads; 'Patterns of Encaustic Tiles Manufactured by Maw and Co. Benthall, nr Broseley' Introductory page states that the designs are by H.B.Garling and based on original sources which include Greek, Pompeian, Italian, Moresque, Perpendicular, Elizabethan and Tudor. Page 9 mentions the church at Great Bedwin, Wilts; and tiles at Great Malvern (Shaw's specimens)
