Description

Folios 677-678. Letter from James Saunders, Clerk to the East Dereham Local Board in the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, to the Local Government Board. He acknowledges receipt of the instruments sanctioning the borrowing of £4000 for sewage purposes and £1000 for purchase of land. He confirms that the requirement of 2/12ths or annual instalments of the £860 borrowed for purchase of the markets £71 13s 4d each will be ordered for payment at the next meeting of the board and also that the board is now in communication with Mr Cross the mortgagee therein. He requests the Board under section 243 of the Public Health Act 1875, [38 & 39 Vic c 55], to recommend to the Public Works Local Board that the advances of £4000 and £1000 be made at lower rates of interest consistent with both their sets of rules and also to ask if the sums can be taken up in portions or if they must be all taken up at once and if in portions in what sums.

In writing to Local Board acknowledge this letter and say that if the Public Works Loan Committee are willing to lend the money it might be borrowed by instalments, the amount of each instalment being matter for arrangement between the Local Board and the Public Works Loan Committee. Reserve ", 12 November 1880.
Annotated: ' In this first instance. Acknowledge and inquire whether the arrears of the instalments of the £860 have now been paid off.
If not repeat that as soon as this has been done, the Board may be so informed', 13 November 1880.
