Description

Series of correspondence and papers dated 1886-1893, relating to the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition, reflecting Mackinnon's involvement as a principal backer of the Expedition. Correspondence includes letters from the Expedition (December 1886 - November 1888), letters from Henry Morton Stanley (March 1887 - August 1889), and correspondence with the Foreign Office (January 1886 - December 1889).

The series also includes papers of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition Committee, including letter books (December 1886 - December 1893), Committee Minute Book (29 December 1886 - 27 June 1892), newspaper cuttings, accounts bills and receipts.
