Letter from Mr Arthur Walkden, "Porto Novo", Nursery Road, Prestwich, Nr Manchester, Whitefield 177 to Mr L.V. Fildes, Esq., Messrs. Lever Brothers Limited, Port Sunlight, Cheshire regarding his Preferential Certificates. Mr Walkden is seeking clarification on the clause regarding employment or entering into business without the consent of the Trustees in writing. Mr Walkden was a previous employee of The Niger Company Limited. He mentions that since his retirement, as part of the Asylum's Board, he has noticed that the names of Bibby's and Silcock's are the only names listed for prices given for cattle food etc. Mr Walkden also confirms he has written to Mr Bell [The Niger Company Limited] regarding his retirement activities.
