Description (What the record is about)
-
By far the most important class of dispensation is that giving permission to hold two or more livings in plurality. Dispensations for non-residence, or for a son to succeed his father in the same living are numerous in the sixteenth century but disappear in the seventeenth century. It is not until the nineteenth century that there are separate records for this class of faculty. Until 1838 the only records of these dispensations are in the muniment books (F I) and the fiats (F II).
