Administrative / biographical background

Lieutenant Commander Francis Archibald McNab, or Frank McNab, had his first motorcycle race at the age of 28 at Brooklands in 1909, winning his class and setting a 500cc one hour distance record on a Trump. He also won a 60-lap TT race and a race against a plane at Brooklands in 1910. In 1911 he set a new one hour record for 500cc bikes and in 1913 won the 750cc class in a six hour race. He was also a successful trials rider. After WW2 he took part in historic motorcycle runs. He died in 1953.
