Administrative / biographical background

Wicks and Phillimore Combined Charities was formed on 7 March 1978 by the amalgamation of three charities, Ann Wicks Smaller and Larger Charities and Samuel Phillimore's Charity. Ann Wicks Smaller Charity was formed by a foundation deed dated 27 August 1829 for the benefit of poor residents of Frampton-on-Severn over 60 years old, cripples and lunatics. Ann Wicks Larger Charity was formed in July 1849 for the relief of the poor aged 55 or more who had lived in Frampton-on-Severn for at least 20 years. Samuel Phillimore's Charity was formed by his will proved on 13 March 1798; it was originally intended to distribute bread to poor residents but later gave out other useful items such as coal.

Wicks and Phillimore Combined Charities provided pensions for poor residents over 55 years old. The last meeting of the trustees was held on 23 March 1999 when its property was transferred to the Pinching Memorial Trust.
