Administrative / biographical background

The Lodge of Naphtali No. 266 was named and established in 1788. In 1788 the lodge met at the Spread Eagle, Chapel Street, Salford, Lancashire. In 1792 the lodge moved from Salford to Manchester, meeting at the New Market Inn, Smithfield Market. The lodge remained in Manchester until 1830 when it moved to The Volunteer, Union Square, Bury, Lancashire. In 1839 the lodge moved from Bury to the Masons' Arms, Whitefield, near Manchester and in 1842 moved to the Bridge Inn, Heap Bridge, near Bury. In 1858 the lodge moved to Heywood, Lancashire, meeting at the Brunswick Hotel, Bridge Street. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Temple, Richard Street, Rochdale.
