The New Testament in English, in the later Wycliffite version ff. 1r-269r. New Testament in the later Wycliffite version, with the usual prologues. No. 43 in the list of Josiah Forshall and Sir Frederic Madden, 'The Holy Bible ... made from the Latin vulgate by John Wycliffe and his followers', 4 vols. (Oxford, 1850); edited from another manuscript in vol 4, pp. 2-681b. Five leaves missing after f. 215 contained Acts vii. to x. 30. ff. 269r-316v. 'Here begynneþ alle þe epistles and lessouns of þe oolde lawe: as þei be rad in þe chirche ... Heere eenden þe pistlis and lessouns of þe oolde lawe: þat ben red in chirche þoru þe 3eer'. Wycliffite 'Lections fron the Old Testament' from the later versions of the Wycliffite Bible, beginning with the first Friday epistle in Advent. Temporale, sanctorale (ff. 306v-11: a leaf missing after f. 308), common of saints (ff. 311-15v), and lessons 'in þe commemoration' of B.V.M., 'for briþeren and sistren', 'for þe pees', 'for cleer wedir', 'for reyn', 'for bataylis', 'for pestilence of beestis", 'for weiferynge men, 'upon þe masse of requiem'.

Immediate source of acquisition (When and where the record was acquired from)
- Many scribbles including 'Barnaby Riche' (f. 98) and 'Sould William Smith this 16 Iune 1601 1 paire of stocken[gs] wolsted for 2. 6d. to paie' (f. 263v). Not recorded at Sion College in 1666, but acquired by 1697. The only significant collection acquired during these years was given by George Berkeley, 1st Earl of Berkeley; see the description of Sion L40.2/E62. Recorded at Sion College in 1697. See Edward Bernard, 'Catalogi Manuscriptorum Angliae et Hiberniae' (Oxford, 1697) vol 2, no. 4084. Shelfmark 'C4' at f. 1r. - Binding of brown leather over pasteboard, rebacked, 168 x 127 mm., late 16th cent. Gilt centrepiece of royal arms. Metalwork for clasps. ff. 1-316 are original vellum leaves, 160 x 115 mm. Written space 118 x 80 mm. 26-32 long lines. Paper flyleaves. A vellum strip inside each cover is taken from an Elizabethan document relating to the Archbishopric of Canterbury witnessed by Henry Iremonger. Collation: 1-26(8); 27(8) wants 8 after f. 215; 29(8) wants 1-4 before f. 216; 29-33(8); 34(10); 35-38(8); 39(8) wants 8 after f. 308; 40(8). Well written by one hand. Initials: (i) red and blue with red and violet ornament; (ii) 2-line, blue with red ornament. Secundo folio 'gracioun'.
