This manuscript contains copies of letters between the Duke of Buckingham and the Earl of Arlington to the secretaries of State in England and Prince of Orange during the conduct of their embassy to the States-General of Holland in 1672 relating to the third Anglo-Dutch war.
The copies of letters are preceded by stipulation of their powers etc. There is an index at the back of the volume which details the following: power to the p[ ]; power to give protections; secretary of the embassy; power to the Duke of Monmoth; to Lord Clifford 25 June; to Lord Clifford 28 June; to Prince of Orange 9 July; his answer; act of the Prince of Orange; King's power to his commissioners; the instrument signed on both sides; the lords to your Prince; conditions offered to the Dutch by his majesty; conditions offered to the French King; to Lord Clifford 7 July; the pretended project; to Lord Clifford 9-19 July; to Mr Godolphin 11-21 July; to Monsieur Louis 11-21 July; Lords to the Prince of Orange; to Lord Clifford 11-21 July; to the Prince of Orange 10-20 July; to Mr Godolphin 14-24 July; to the King 15-25 July.
About 50 of the folios are blank.
