Parks and Gardens Department
The Recreation Grounds Committee was established in January 1883. It was responsible for the management of all the Corporation's public parks and pleasure gardens. In 1902 when it took over the property and duties of the former Brighton Burial Board it was renamed the Parks, Gardens and Cemetery Committee. It later became the Parks Committee.
The department was based at Moulsecoomb Place until the house was sold to Brighton University in about 1992.
For minutes of the Parks Committee from 1883, see DB/B/21/1-28 and for minutes of the golf-links sub-committee, 1907-1918, see DB/B/22/1-2.
