This court sat at the Town Hall in Wolverhampton once a week, and covered the following areas: Bushbury, Codsall, Oaken, Patshull, Pattingham, Lower Penn, Upper Penn, Tettenhall, Wednesfield, Wrottesley, Trysull, Seisdon, Wombourne, Essington and Bentley.
The court dealt with minor criminal offences and civil matters such as licensing. In 1872 the regulation and licensing of all beer shops came under the control of justices of the peace, and from this date licensing registers begin.
In 1929 Tettenhall Petty Sessional Division was created covering a similar area to the Wolverhampton Division and the records continue in a separate collection.
