Description

Folios 185-186. Letter from Charles Wright, Clerk to the Mitford and Launditch Rural Sanitary Authority, to the Local Government Board, informing them that the committee of the sanitary authority have unanimously resolved, with the Board's sanction, to pay him £45, for his service to the year end. He encloses a copy of the minutes of 26 February 1875 which include the resolution. He asks for an early reply in order that the payment, if sanctioned, may be included in the accounts for the current year.
Extract from minutes of Rural Sanitary Authority, present: H E Hyde, Chairman; Rob Hudson, Deputy Chairmen; R C Browne, Chairman of Union; John P Smith; J G E Davey; Thomas Husband and Thomas Chambers. Resolved under 25 & 26 Vic c79 s12 to pay Clerk sum of £45.
Annotated: 'State that the Board can make no distinction of the kind proposed. The clerk is to be remunerated for all the services, which he rendered to the RSA. There can be no distinction in respect of the purpose and object of the services. The subject must be reconsidered by the board of guardians', 5 March 1875.
Annotated: 'I think it means merely that this payment to the clerk for his services for the year should be charged to the account of General Expenses. But it seems that there will be further payment in respect of the provisional orders', 4 March 1875.
Annotated: 'I suspect it is intended to make some charge apportioned to the parishes for above.'
Annotated: 'Write as proposed', 9 March 1875.
