The volume contains copies of enclosures to despatches from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the East India Company Secret Committee. The volume is divided into nine items:. Aden Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 1a-9); Bagdad Pachalic Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 10-16); Aden Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 17-69); Bagdad Pachalic Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 70-78); The Narrative of a Journey Undertaken by Commander Felix Jones for Determining the Tract of the Ancient Nahrwan Canal (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 79-175); The 'Slave Trade' (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 176-215); Aden Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 216-252); Aden Affairs (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 253-266); Lieutenant-Colonel Outram's Memoir on Matters Relating to Egypt (IOR/L/PS/5/464, ff 267-677); The copies of enclosures to despatches are dated 11 May to 25 July 1850, but three of the items include notes dated 31 October 1906, recording that enclosures listed in the abstract of contents are missing from the items.

The enclosures to each despatch within the volume (each item) are divided by blue dividers. The sets of enclosures to despatches are arranged in numerical (by despatch number) and chronological order from the front to the rear of the volume. The enclosures within each despatch are preceded by an abstract of contents, in which the despatch itself (not included) is numbered 1, the abstract of contents 2, and the enclosures 3, 4, etc. The numbers listed in the abstract of contents are recorded for reference on the verso of the last folio of each enclosure, along with the original reference, and a description of each enclosure.

- Foliation: the foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the first folio with 1 and terminates at the last folio with 677; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio. An additional foliation sequence is also present in parallel between ff 456-677; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled. The foliation sequence does not include the front and back covers. The sequence contains three foliation anomalies: f 1a, f 54a, and f 286a.
