In 1948 the metal refiners 'Barton Williams & Co (Birmingham) Ltd' was partially acquired by The Wolverhampton Metal Company Ltd, Wednesfield. Its main activities comprised the crushing and washing of ashes and various other foundry residues, providing a further source of supply for the parent company. In 1951 the remaining shares of Barton Williams & Co Ltd were taken over by The Wolverhampton Metal Company Ltd, Wednesfield, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
