These papers were acquired during the years 1814 to 1827, following Lord William's departure from Sicily and prior to becoming Governor General of Bengal.
There are a number of letters, including a small group sent to Lady William Bentinck. Several papers relate to affairs in Italy and to military matters, but the largest group concern the Fen Drainage Improvement and the Eau Brink Bill of 1825.
