Description

Release: William Whiston, late Fellow of Clare Hall, Cambridge, and now of Lowestoft, co. Suffolk, clerk, and Ruth his wife, to Charles Jennens of Gopsall, co. Leicester, esq.: in consideration of £960 (i) a messuage in RATCLIFFE CULEY, now in the tenure of William Vincent, a cottage in the same in the tenure of Thomas Colson, another cottage in the same in the tenure of John Booneham, a close of pasture in the same called Jennards Close alias Long Close, all lands, selions, etc., of arable, ley, meadow and pasture containing two yardlands in the open fields of RATCLIFFE CULEY and LITTLE SHEEPY in the tenures of William Vincent and Nathaniell Heele, a close of pasture in R.C. called Hinkley Leyes containing 3 acres in the tenure of William Vincent, another close of pasture in the same called Micknell Close containing 10 acres in the tenure of William Whitworth: which aforesaid premises were purchased by the said William Whiston from Rosse Whiston, his elder brother and Katherine his wife (ii) a messuage in RATCLIFFE CULEY together with the closes of pasture called the Cliffe and Cliffe Hades and the Biddles Closes with the cottage thereon and one yardland and a quarter belonging to the said messuage in the tenure of William Vincent and lying in the fields of RATCLIFFE CULEY and purchased by the said William Whiston from Samuel Symonds: of all the above premises the said Charles Jennens stands seized by virtue of an indenture of lease made the day before the date of these presents for a term of one year: to hold the same to the said Charles Jennens and his heirs for ever.
