The corporation of the Governors of Queen Anne's Bounty was created by the Act 2 & 3 Anne c.20 [sometimes quoted as c.11] (1703) to apply and distribute the revenues of first fruits and tenths, benefactions and part of the profits of livings sequestered for non-residence, to the relief of poor clergy and the permanent augmentation of smaller livings. Part of such augmentation was often appropriated to providing a suitable parsonage house to encourage residence.
