Miss Wright is the conductor of the Howmari Ladies Choir which was formed in 1971 with thirty-five members. Miss Jessie York was a founder member and Mrs Barbara Whitehouse was the first secretary. The name of the choir is derived from a combination of the names of the conductor and pianist, Miss Mary Wright and Mr Oliver Howarth, also a conductor.
