By indenture of 22 February 1805 between Samuel Darby late of Coalbrookdale, ironmaster, decd, late father of Mary Owen, and Joseph Shipton, gent (1) Deborah Darby late of Coalbrookdale, widow,decd. (2) Consideration: £1,000 borrowed by Samuel Darby from Deborah Darby, Samuel granted to her, inter alia, the dwelling house, and gardens below for 1000 years subject to a proviso for redemption. Will of Samuel Darby 12 Oct. 1807 devising all his property in Madeley & c to the use of his 1st and other sons in tail male successively, in default in trust for his daughters to be equally divided as tenants in common and their corporeal heirs, remainder to his rights heirs forever. He died 1 Feb. 1808 leaving 2 children - Frances Anna Darby and the said Mary owen née Darby. Will proved by Edmund Darby and Francis Darby the executors named, 19 March 1808 in P.C.C. Frances Anna Darby died April 1811 an infant c. 6 yrs old. Deborah Darby made her will 9 Feb. 1810 not making any specific bequest of the premises vested in her by the mortgage and appointed her son Edmund Darby and her brother Robert Barnard executors. Will proved by R.Barnard alone, surviving executor, 20 June 1810 in P.C.C.

By indenture of 5 Dec. 1825 between Edw. Pryce Owen (1) Mary Owen then Mary Darby,spinster an infant under 21, being 19, (2) Francis Darby, Esq (3) Abraham Darby and Edward Cludde, Esq. (4) being the settlement before the marriage of Edward P. Owen and Mary Darby, E.P.Owen covenanted when married and Mary is 21 to suffer recoveries, make conveyances & c to the use of Abraham Darby and Edward Cludde of among other premises the said house and gardens below, to uses:- as to the freehold property, the trustees with the consent of the Owens are to sell the same, the money arising to be paid to the trustees for the benefit of the Owens. Covenant by E.P. Owen within 6 months after the marriage to pay to the personal representatives of Deborah Darby £1,000 secured to her by mortgage. The marriage took place 6 Dec. 1825. By indenture of 18 Oct. 1826 endorsed on the last in part recited indenture, between Abraham Darby and Edward Cludde (1) Edward Pryce Owen and Mary his wife (2) Abraham Darby and Thomas Jeffreys (3) William Jeffreys, gent (4) Cludde desired to resign from the trusts, so Thomas Jeffreys was appointed in his place. By indenture of 19 Oct. 1826 also endorsed on the indenture of 5 Dec. 1825, between WmJeffreys (1) Abraham Darby and Thomas Jeffreys (2) all right vested in Ab. Darby and Edw. Cludde in the premises was vested in Ab. Darby and Thos Jeffreys. Mary Owen was 21 on 11 August last. By indentures of lease and release 30 & 31 Oct. last between Edw. P. Owen and Mary (1) Joseph Shipton (2) Robert Barnard (3) Abraham Darby and Thomas Jeffreys (4) John Pritchard (5) and by a fine by the Owens to Ab. Darby and Thos Jeffreys in Mich. last, to the use of Ab. Darby and Thos Jeffreys in trust, all the property comprised in the 1000 years term was assigned by Robert Barnard to John Pritchard for the residue of the term in trust for Ab. Darby and Thos Jeffreys to dispose of the same, permitting the residue of the term to attend the inheritance.

Abraham Darby and Thomas Jeffreys have at the request of E.P. Owen & Mary agreed with Lucy Darby for the sale to her of the said house for £600. It is agreed that the residue of the 1000 years shall be extinguished in the inheritance. Consideration: £600 to Ab. Darby and Thomas Jeffreys from Lucy Darby, conveyance to her of the dwelling house formerly used as a summer house with the outbuildings, garden & c belonging in Coalbrookdale (formerly Robert Barnard) and the garden and orchard in Coalbrookdale (now or late C'dale Co), all together 2a 2p shown on the map in the margin. To hold to Lucy and heir heirs forever. No incumbrances by E.P. Owen and Mary, Samuel Darby her late father deceased, or by Samuel Darby her late frandfather of Abraham Darby her late great grandfather deceased.
