Introduction

These papers were found at the old vicarage at Laughton, and it seems likely that they were removed from the parish archive by the Rev W A Pearson in the course of research for his book The Village of "The Buckle" - Laughton, which appeared in 1931. Several of the documents are referred to in the publication, and some are annotated in pencil in a 20th-century hand.

The documents have been grouped under the parish officers who produced them, and listed in the order used for records produced by the same officers in the classification scheme used for parish records.
