Despatch from the Foreign Department, Government of India, to theSecretary of State for India, No. 157 of 1870, dated 5 August 1870, containingenclosures dated 7 May-23 July 1870. The enclosures consist of copies of correspondence relatingto rumours that Mirza Mehdi Khan [Mīrzā Mahdī Khān], who the British believe tohave started or exacerbated recent disturbances at Bushire [Bushehr], is to beappointed Foreign Agent at Bushire. The primary correspondents are: the PoliticalResident in the Persian Gulf; the Government of Bombay; and the Government ofIndia.
