To his mother - pros and cons for his return home; very glad to hear from Mr Babington that "he found you in excellent Plight"; he should leave Dumfries, and cultivate people elsewhere; comments on Miss/Mr Knott's question - transcript of letter to Mr Knott follows on page 3 and dorse of this; why does not Mr Atkinson write? [his agent]; Sir Sidney Beckwith much liked in Bombay - Edward Wilson's marriage to his daughter a very happy one; this letter goes with "Sir John Malcolm's return to England across the Deserts", Mangalore
