p. 37 'School opened for teaching in the morning only. Children too much excited about prizes, 23 Dec. 1863'

p. 56 "Several children absent, picking up acorns", 6 Oct. 1864

p.71 Poor attendances - girls out "nursing". Others "kept at home while mothers go out to work" 29 May 1865

p.72 Generally good school reports. But "The attendance is irregular, hence some of the girls are still in the lower classes", 2 June 1865
