The Central Lancashire New Town was designated a new town under the 1965 New Towns Act. Before designation, planning proposals for the new town and a draft designation order were proposed for consideration at a public inquiry. After the Inspector's report the Minister responsible approved the creation of the new town corporation by the order of 14 April 1970 (NTC 1/25). The records listed below relate to the various stages of this procedure.
