Between Thomas Crompton, Robert Wright, Gelly Meyrick esq. of London and Thomas Owen and Thomas Leighton esq. March 1 1588 Queen conceded to Thomas Crompton, Robert Wright and Gelly Merrick, all that tenement with its appurtenances in Up Rossall and Udlington, formerly in occupation of Richard Sandford, and now in tenure of Humphrey Sandford. Annual rent £8 6s. 8d. Those pasture, 2, called Werefields, in Up Rossall and Udlington, formerly in tenure of Katherine Evans widow. All of which possessions were formerly those of Sir Francis Englefield, attained for high treason and granted to Humphrey Foster and George Fitton through royal letters patent, August 8th 1585, for 50 years. Except for oak trees and ashes which are to be perquisite of the queen. Bargain and sale by Thomas Crompton, Robert Wright, and Gelly Meyrick, for certain sum of money to Thomas Owen and Thomas Leighton. The messuages, tenements, lands and pastures with appurtenances in Up Rossall and Udlington, to the use of Thomas Owen and Thomas Leighton and their assigns for ever, in common socage, not in chief or knight service. Warranted to Thomas Owen and Thomas Leighton before Robert Wright and his heirs.
