Brunswick church was formed in 1836 when several hundred members and scholars left the Methodist chapel at Union Street to join the new Wesleyan Methodist Association; some papers relating to this split are to be found among the records of Union Street (ref. CUS). The new group initially met in a warehouse in Paradise Street, but in 1837 a chapel was built in North Street, and in 1840, this became the centre of the new WMA Bury circuit. In 1864, a new building replaced the old chapel, which from 1870 served as the church day school until its closure in 1935; some additional records for the school have been deposited by the borough education department (ref. SBR). Brunswick church closed in 1967, when the remaining congregation joined with that of the church at Limefield to form the new Seedfield church. Some records for the new church are among those listed here; other are listed under CLF and CSF.
