County Council of Lancashire ... also Manchester City Council (Liberals & Conservatives) .... since 1873 member of Local Board of Gorton ... chairman of Highway Committee .... elected 1878 member of Gorton Board of Overseers, chairman for 5 years .... When they first came into district ... green fields ... few houses on Hyde road or Stockport road ... father instilled into him the necessity of undertaking public work ... duty of some of the firm to look after the interests of the district ...

Jennison's hand - We paid for the paving in the end.GJ - .... city authorities ... not hesitate declaring it a public highway ... been made a personal & party question by some of their friends in Kirkmanshulme., then followed songs (listed) proceedings terminated with National Anthem ... address ... illuminated by ....
