Col.2 .. presentation proceedings ... at Longsight entrance to Belle Vue Gardens ... services ... for over 25 years, .. multiplicity of offices ... 17 years honorary surveyor of Kirkmanshulme ... connection with Prestwich Board of Guardians (district representative for 10 years) also .... on Assessment and Office Committees (of Board) .... member of the Prestwich Union Rural Sanitary Authority, 2 years chairman ... County Council of Lancashire ... also Manchester City Council (Liberals & Conservatives) .... since 1873 member of Local Board of Gorton ... chairman of Highway Committee .... elected 1878 member of Gorton Board of Overseers, chairman for 5 years .... THEN, follows presentation, contd. in col.2.,

Including Mr. C. Jennison's reply .... severe illness .... When they first came into district ... green fields ... few houses on Hyde road or Stockport road ... father instilled into him the necessity of undertaking public work ... duty of some of the firm to look after the interests of the district ...

Firm ... duty to keep the whole of the district in ... repair ... district now joined to Manchester ... heard only yesterday (Thursday, 6th March 1891) Longsight's Mechanic Institute ... converted into a Free Library ... Kirkmanshulme Lane .... his firm originally made that road. When they came to Belle Vue ... nearly 55 years ago ... nothing but cow lane .... only communication between Hyde-road and Stockport-road ... time declared public highway ... impression when ... citizens of Manchester ... burden taken off their shoulders (here in margin, pencil mss. note in G. Jennison's hand - We paid for the paving in the end.GJ - .... city authorities ... not hesitate declaring it a public highway ... been made a personal & party question by some of their friends in Kirkmanshulme., then followed songs (listed) proceedings terminated with National Anthem ... address ... illuminated by .... Councillor Reynolds, then a description of address ... musical programme arranged by Mr. W.G. Edwardes.
