The Bahrain State sub-sub-series contains files that are primarily related to internal matters in Bahrain and the administration of the Bahraini state. Topics discussed include liquor control in the country (IOR/R/15/2/814), the Bahrain Police Force (IOR/R/15/2/815-816 and 827), the establishment of cinemas (IOR/R/15/2/817), legal matters (IOR/R/15/2/818), economic matters (IOR/R/15/2/820-821,824, 826 and 829), the Muharram processions of the country's Shia community (IOR/R/15/2/819) and the country's facilities for dealing with major accidents (IOR/R/15/2/825). The majority of the correspondence in these files is between British officials, notably Charles Belgrave, Adviser to the Government of Bahrain, and the numerous Political Agents in Bahrain and Political Residents in the Persian Gulf that served during this period.
