Title

Departmental Papers: Political and Secret Annual Files

Date

1912-1930

Description

In 1911 the separate series of Home Correspondence [L/PS/3], Letters from India [L/PS/7], and Letters from Aden [L/PS/9] came to an end and were replaced in 1912 by a series of Annual Files [L/PS/11] embracing all types of Political and Secret Correspondence. These annual files conform to the normal pattern of India Office departmental papers which had been introduced into other departments in the 1880s. The L/PS/11 series is supplemented by the Political and Secret Separate (or Subject) Files [L/PS/10] - these were particularly full sets of papers on special subjects which between 1902 and 1931 were extracted from the main series and kept separately.
