Description

The Duke of Devonshire writes concerning the Duke of Newcastle's wish to appoint Lord Hartington Lieutenant of Ireland replacing the Duke of Dorset in attempt to quieten the disturbances in Ireland. The Duke asserts that Lord Hartington will not take up the position without serious thought. Written from London. Signed 'Devonshire'.
