Letters addressed (chiefly) to Matthew Prior, after his return to England and when attached to the office of the Earl of Jersey, Secretary of State; 12 Jan., - 25 Dec., 1700. Among the writers are:- Earl of Manchester, Ambassador at Paris (several of whose letters are addressed to Lord Jersey); Abraham Stanyan, Secretary to the Embassy at Paris; John Macky (to Lord Jersey); Earl of Berkeley; Charles Seymour; Duke of Somerset, as Chancellor of Cambridge University (on the use of the King of France's Greek type at Cambridge); Earl of Albemarle; Earl of Jersey (after he ceased, 2 May, to be Sec. of State, from Loo, etc.); John Cecil, 6th Earl of Exeter; Dr. Humphrey Gower, Master of St. John's Coll. Cambridge. No.1, from Jos. Dawson, from Dublin Castle, 3 Jan., 1700, belongs to 1701.
