A marriage has been arranged between Thomas Plowden Presland and Harriette Gibbons
Recital of settlement of even date
(1) John Gibbons
(2) Harriette Gibbons
(3) Thomas Plowden Presland
(4) George Pritchard and Thomas Longueville Longueville
Gibbons has covenanted to pay during the joint lives of the couple and himself and the joint lives of himself and the survivor, and annuity of £250. On his death his executors and administrators shall transfer to Pritchard and Longueville one third of whatever property he may die possessed of, to be held on trust, the third being understood to exceed £5000 unless some unforseen depreciation takes place in the value
Consideration: the marriage and this settlement, and 10s to Presland
Lease and release of the manor of Cosford or Gosford, Cosford Grange (now Presland), land (Presland and Southern), site of water corn mill (John Shenton), as schedule
To hold to use of Presland until the marriage, after to use of Presland and assigns for his life, after to use of Pritchard and Longueville their heirs and assigns during Presland's life on trust to support the contingent uses, after Presland's death, to use of Harriette and her assigns for her life, Pritchard and Longueville during her life to support contingent uses, after the decease of the survivor, to use of all children and the issue of any child who shall depart this life in the lifetime of Presland leaving issue then living, at such age and in such proportions and limitations as Presland shall by deed or will appoint, and for want of such appointment, equally as tenants in common; if there be only one or one surviving child, then the whole shall go to that child; if no child or no surviving child, then to use of Presland his heirs and assigns Presland covenants to pay his wife or her agent yearly £100 for her own disposal
The trustees may after the death of the survivor, Presland or his wife, apply the issues of the estate not exceeding the amount of any child's expectant share towards the child's maintenance and education or benefit. During a minority, the trustees may make leases for terms of 21 years at an improved rent, not taking any fine or premium, punishment for waste to be expressly mentioned in any lease. They may sell or exchange or raise money by mortgage
The property is still encumbered with the mortgage to Grove and annuity to George Stanier
