Chief Inspector of Ancient Monuments) of original Papers relating to Mr. Charles Peers, at one time a Company's Servant in Madras. (2) pp. 2-5, Peers' Diary 10th to 21st Dec. 1733, Charges of misconduct and an interview with Governor George Morton Pitt. (3) p. 7, Court of Directors' Order restoring Peers to his place in Council, n.d., but evidently referring to his suspension (see para. 91 of Madras Letter to Court 25th Aug. 1731, p. 28 below) in 1731. (4) pp. 9-32, 37-40, 97, Madras Council to Court of Directors 31st Jan. 1731/2, 25th Aug. 1731 (there is no other complete copy of this in the India Office), and -- Sept. 1733 reporting their action in reference to the Court's Orders for restraint of Private Trade.
