Administrative / biographical background

Lodge of Commerce was granted a warrant to meet as No. 297 by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 26 January 1796 and was known as the Ancient Knight Templar Lodge, meeting at the Sun, Cockpit Hill, Manchester. The Lodge met in various premises around Manchester until establishing a base at the Commercial Inn, Manchester Road, Haslingden, East Lancashire in 1831. The lodge was named as the Lodge of Commerce in 1832 and moved to the Masonic Hall, Deardengate, Haslingden, Lancashire in 1925. In 2009 the Lodge moved to Mill House, Whalley Road, Clayton-?le-?Moors, Lancashire. On 12 December 2012 the Lodge transferred from the Province of East Lancashire to the Province of Berkshire and now meets at the Parish Hall, The Street, Aldermaston.
