Folio 261. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to R Watson [Richard Watson], Assistant Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union in reply to his letter of 12 November 1879, concerning the payment by the guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union of £1 to H Raven [Henry Raven], Medical Officer for the Litcham District in consideration of the services rendered by him in the case of William Howlett. They state that they are unaware of the authority under which Mr Girling, the Clerk and Steward of the Norfolk County Asylum, made the demand contained in his letter of 29 April 1879 addressed to the clerk to the guardians. They recommend that the guardians request an explanation from Girling.
